CALLUM DUGGAN

Principal Bass

Originally from Bridgnorth, Callum studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama with Tyler Shepherd and Mary Condliffe of the Welsh National Opera, and with David Stark of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. In his time at college, Callum won the Bridgewood & Neitzert Chamber Music Prize, and was awarded scholarships from the Arts Council of Wales and the EMI Sound Foundation.

He regularly features as a freelance bassist with the British Sinfonietta, Welsh Chamber Orchestra, OPRA Cymru and various others around the UK, and his musical career has taken him as far afield as India and Bulgaria. Outside of orchestral music, Callum plays double bass in Welsh-language folk act The Gentle Good, winners of the 2018 Welsh Music Prize. He also regularly plays bass guitar and double bass in various musical theatre productions.

As a proud Shropshire lad, Callum is delighted to be a part of The Kidderminster Festival Orchestra, now renamed The Sinfonia Stellaris as he shares in the orchestra’s passion for bringing high-quality music to the area.
